Starting from the Rongai gate, the route traverses several diverse climate zones, each producing amazing views and experiences. Because of its remote location, the route offers trekkers a relatively unspoiled wilderness experience where it is possible to see large wildlife like antelope, elephants, and buffalo. Heading up to Kikelewa Caves on day two, the views start to open up, with the Amboseli Plains of Kenya stretching into the distance. The route continues up to the mountain’s second summit at Mawenzi before crossing the Saddle, a barren plain that connects the two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. After reaching the summit, the descent is along the more heavily traveled Marangu route, allowing you to see Mount Kilimanjaro from both sides. Lying in the rain shadow of Kilimanjaro, the Rongai route is one of the best routes to attempt Kilimanjaro during the rainy season.

DAY 2: SIMBA CAMP TO KIKELEWA CAMP time: 6 - 7 hours

DAY 3: KIKELEWA CAMP TO MAWENZI TARN time: 4 - 5 hours

DAY 4: MAWENZI TARN TO KIBO CAMP time: 3 - 4 hours

DAY 5: KIBO CAMP TO SUMMIT TO HOROMBO HUT time: 12 - 13 hours

DAY 6 HOROMBO HUT TO MARANGU GATE time: 6 - 7 hours

Deposit Payment

The deposit is 10% of the total booking amount.
Deposit can be made either via bank transfer or online card.
A 5% fee applies to all card payments (payment gateway charges); this is non-refundable.
We offer bank accounts in 10 different currencies for bank transfer.
Once you make the advance payment, you will receive a booking confirmation.

Balance Payment

Balance can be paid via bank transfer, online card payment, or cash.
Bank payment can be made 15 days before the tour date (recommended 30 days prior).
Card Payment can be made one day before the tour date (recommended 7 days prior).
A 5% fee applies to all card payments (payment gateway charge); this is non-refundable.
Cash can be paid on arrival (USD printed in or after 2009).
